Feedback is perceived as an important tool to help students of all levels know how they are performing and what they need to improve. There are numerous publications about how to provide effective feedback. This paper provides twelve tips to help medical students, interns, residents, clinical teachers and practicing physicians to make the best use of the feedback they receive for self-assessment, to define goals and develop learning plans to improve their performance.
